Ageing with JESUS, an Acrostic (A-to-Z Challenge)

JESUS, an acrostic poem ~

J

Jesus, Savior, Lord, Redeemer ~ guardian of my soul, and friend~

E

Extends His grace-love, peace-mercies, wow-wisdom; walks me through each extraordinary day, touching everything I see~

S

Sustains me with hope in bleak stutter-stepping season; sweeps away nightmares; soothes bitter wounds that still bleed, unhealed~

U

Using kindest Shepherd’s voice, He corrals my errant thoughts, concerns; brushes burrs from my unattractive attitudes, and motives somewhat muddied~

S

Since He visited me–in Majesty, Shekinah Glory shimmering–I pray my life would reflect His Light for others’ intersecting paths…

As mine will never again be smudged with oily dust of Yesterday’s shame~

Songs for Sunday

Taking Sundays off, back on Monday…so I wanted to leave you something good. The first one is a classic gospel song by the late Andre Crouch.

The 2nd is Robin Mark’s “Days of Elijah”–it’s bound to get your blood rushing, one of my very favorites.

God bless everyone, you’re all in my prayers!💖Vee

He’s Wasn’t the Gardener

He’s known my grieving

Draws me close so I can see

His tomb is open, empty

Redeemer’s blood set me free

Rejoice, rejoice!  Christ’s Risen!

“Dear woman, why are you crying?” Jesus asked her. “Who are you looking for?”  She thought he was the gardener.  John 20:15, NLT

Praise the LORD!

I LOVE this whole song, but my fave lyrics are, “there’s a Man I know hung upon a tree, Gave His life that day on Calvary, But the grave couldn’t hold Him and it can’t hold me, I’m alive in Christ and He’s alive in me.”

I’m just wondering… do YOU know this Man? Friend, if not–you’ve got to meet Him, He’s a life-changer!

Blessings to everyone this Resurrection Sunday💖V.Sparrow

Upper Room’s Locked Doors

Huddled, in hiding

Behind Upper Room’s locked doors

Hushed ‘neath somber pall

Hoping something would happen

A miraculous something

~

Stifled by fear, shame

Mute sorrowed contemplation

They avoided eyes

Of companions…all had run

Left the Master in Death’s hour

~

There had to be more–

One began to pray…then a

Faint voice trembling, sang…

Frail faith could not discount God’s

Word–daily they’d walked with Him

Heart Revelation ~ Love Your Neighbor

“LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF” [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].

Matt 19:19 AMP

The nail gun spoke loudly as a maintenance guy covered the exterior of windows down below with wood, securing the now empty apartment from vandals.

Finally the occupant/resident’s time was up; no more notices, warnings, 2nd-chances–she’d been evicted an hour before.

Over a lengthy time, I’d done my share of complaining about her screaming unintelligible curses till she was hoarse; throwing pots and pans; hammering incessantly inside her subsidized living quarters–all of this during the middle of the night; everything on my walls required repeated straightening.

In the last couple years, though, God melted my heart–miraculously turned my angry frustration into compassion.

She was afflicted with schizophrenia, couldn’t control her behavior, wouldn’t stay on prescribed meds–and none of my ultimately sincere earnest prayers for her healing, deliverance had availed.

How strange to catch a revelation of God’s grace and no longer need her to leave; I just wanted her to be okay, freed from her demons…because it was for such as these, as well as my own soul, that Jesus was willingly nailed to the Cross.

♠♠♠

This story is true.  Sadly, my neighbor refused all sources of help during the years she lived in the apartment below me.  She wasn’t the first resident to receive affordable housing, yet be unable to function well independently because she wouldn’t accept free available support resources.

People cannot legally be compelled to receive help.  And even when they stop paying their rent and do damage to the property–unless they commit a crime, the eviction process is complicated, lengthy.

Because of HIPPA, no one would respond to my requests for help for her (nor for previous neighbors on behalf of whom I’d made calls).  A concerned caring neighbor who’s not related to the person in need…meets a brick wall every time.

And my complaints to Management that her behavior was impacting my health?  “Sorry, but there’s nothing we can do”.  Sounds harsh, but they are powerless…they aren’t counselors or social workers.

Over 27 years, I’ve learned to pray–for others, and myself.  If not for God’s grip on me, I wouldn’t be here.  I grew stronger by necessity, more devout in my faith.

If that’s the way it had to be, well…I’m grateful.  The cost has been significant, the blessings immeasurable.

“On Christ the solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.”

Martha and Mary Reflect (3TC)

https://pensitivity101.wordpress.com/2024/03/25/three-things-challenge-m644/

Di’s 3 prompt words are:  AWE, AWFUL, HORRIBLE

♥~†~♥

Martha and Mary were elderly sisters, their memories sharp as knife blades.  Their hearts could hardly hold the awe and love they’d known for years, since meeting Jesus

He was different, almost indescribably so:  wise, well-educated, strong, humble, mannerly, tender-hearted, kindly.  Yet down-to-earth…they could hear his hearty laugh even now.

Whenever He was in town back then, they knew He’d visit their home for dinner…it was cause for celebration.  They’d spend days cooking, baking–and fuss about which of them would serve Him their special dish first!

He’d been their teacher, rabbi…their best friend in the world.  He was Someone they could count on for whatever they needed.  He meant everything to them.

Once a year, though, their delighted reminiscing was over-shadowed by recollections of a Friday long ago: the day He was arrested for no reason–no honest factual testimony, no crime.

Oh, the awful torture He’d endured…it had gone on and on.  And most horrible of all–the image burned in their minds of Him nailed to that Cross.  Bruised, bleeding from welts, slashes…a crown of thorns wholly unsuitable for the Messiah they’d waited for, their King.

He’d made them a promise which sounded too good to believe…but He was true to His Word–

The grave was nothing to Him.  Sure enough He’d died–and three days later He was ALIVE, greeting them again.  That was a GOOD day…people still talk about it, singing His name.

Cast Your Cares

“Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you ~” Psalm 55:22, NIV

~†~

“…Anointed Christian music…can fill your room with the presence of the Lord.  Allow the music to simply wash over you like rivers of living waters.  Let His presence flush out every fear and every anxiety.  Let His love take away the cares that burden you.  Let Jesus be magnified and glorified, and watch Him turn all things around for your good!”
